VertPop Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how VertPop ("VertPop," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the VertPop mobile application (the "App") and the vertpop.com website. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, basic profile information (name, email) provided by Google Sign-In. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us your name and an email address, which may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email.
• Profile. If you set up a profile we store your handle, display name, bio, profile photo and birth year with your account.
• Community content. If you take part in community features, we store what you post (such as reviews, ratings, answers, alternate endings, chat posts and votes) and the groups you join. Posts are visible to other users together with your display name. If you report content or block another user, we store that report or block and use it to moderate the App.
• Title suggestions. If you suggest a title for the App, we store the details you send (such as the title, language, link and notes) with your account.
• Usage data. We collect in-app activity such as content you view, your watchlist, and ratings you submit, to operate and improve the App.
• Analytics events. The App records in-app events such as app opens and sessions, titles and episodes you open or watch (including how far you watch), swipes, trailer plays, watchlist changes, and searches you make (including the search text). Events recorded while you are signed in are stored with your account ID, so they are linked to your account. Events recorded before you sign in carry only a random ID generated by the App and are not linked to your account. We use events to operate, measure and improve the App. We do not use them for advertising or share them for tracking.
• Device and diagnostic data. Standard technical data (device type, OS version, app version, and error logs) used for reliability and support.

VertPop aggregates and links to publicly available short-form drama content hosted on third-party platforms. We do not collect payment information in the App. The App does not collect your device's advertising identifier and does not include third-party analytics or advertising tools.

Website waitlist. If you join the VertPop waitlist on vertpop.com, we store your email address, the date and time you signed up, which sign-up form you used, and the version of the consent text you agreed to. We do not store your IP address or browser details with your sign-up. To protect the form from automated abuse, we may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes technical information such as your IP address to tell people from bots; Cloudflare handles that data under its own privacy policy. We use your email only to tell you when VertPop launches. We do not sell it or share it except with the service providers that store it and send our emails: Cloudflare (storage), and an email provider that we will name here before we send the first email. We delete your email 12 months after the launch email, or sooner if you ask us to. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove your email at any time by writing to privacy@vertpop.com.

2. How We Use Information

• To provide and personalize the App (feeds, watchlist, ratings, recommendations).
• To authenticate you and secure your account.
• To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve features.
• To communicate service-related messages (e.g., account or security notices).

3. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers to run the App. These may process limited data on our behalf:

• Supabase — authentication and database/backend hosting.
• Google — Google Sign-In (if you choose to use it).
• Apple — App Store distribution and Sign in with Apple (if you choose to use it).
• YouTube (Google) — trailers in the App play in an embedded YouTube player, so YouTube receives information about the videos you play under its own privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — website hosting, content storage and delivery, waitlist storage, and bot protection (Turnstile).

Playback of drama content may direct you to third-party platforms (e.g., YouTube and partner services) whose own privacy policies govern your activity there.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers above as needed to operate the App, or where required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and usage data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. Analytics events are kept for up to 14 months and then deleted.

You can delete your account at any time in the App, or ask us to delete it (see Contact). When you delete your account we delete your account, profile, watchlist, votes, ratings, reviews, group memberships, title suggestions and the analytics events linked to your account. Content you posted in community features (such as answers, alternate endings and chat posts), and reports you made, stay in the App with your name removed. Events recorded before you signed in are not linked to your account, so they are not deleted with it; they are kept for up to 14 months like other events. To prevent abuse, we keep a minimal deletion record (an internal ID, a one-way code derived from it, and the deletion date) for 30 days.

6. Your Choices & Rights

• Access or correct your account data by contacting us.
• Delete your account in the App, or by contacting us.
• Manage sign-in and permissions through your device and Google/Apple account settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Some drama content is intended for mature audiences.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
